Domaine de Châteaumar

Perle de Rosé 2015

Dating back to the 11th century, Châteaumar's vineyards include 25 acres in the Côtes du Rhône and 12 acres in the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The estate is sustainably farmed and has been run for generations without any use of herbicides or pesticides. A Blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre, the Perle de Rosé is at once opulent and elegant. Big, bright strawberry, watermelon, lime peel, and peach comprise the abundant nose. The palate brings a far drier expression of the bouquet with white peach, Asian pear, flinty mineral notes, and bright acidity. This truly rose petal-colored rosé is best with a nice chill, served with friends on a warm spring evening.

Pairings:

Salad with shrimp and strawberries, grilled salmon, grilled asparagus

Angulo Innocenti

Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Pedro Angulo and Angel Innocenti, third and fourth generation winemakers respectively, have teamed together to express their wine-making through the unique terroir of La Consulta in Argentina's famous Mendoza wine growing region. La Consulta lies at the foothills of the Andes mountains at 3,500 feet above sea level on poor sandy soils with round, calcareous rocks. The process of grape selection at Angulo Innocenti is pretty mind-blowing: says Angulo Innocenti, "All of the grapes underwent a manual double selection, first for clusters and then even grape by grape." This Cabernet Sauvignon is the result of three different harvests! Indigenous yeast fermentation insures no loss of nuance and secondary characteristics. The resulting wine has enormous complexity while still boasting the rich, fuller mouth-feel of Argentina's hot climate. Smoke, leather, mushrooms, and dried red fruit are backed by dried roses, black cherry, and pomegranate in a heady and impressively dynamic bouquet. The palate is rich and broad with cloves, baking spices, tobacco, tart cranberry, cocoa powder, and dusty tannins.

PAIRINGS:

Beef Short Ribs, Marinated grilled Portobello mushrooms.
