Joe's Winos Wine Club JuNE 2015
Chateau Fuisse
“JJ Vincent” Bourgogne Blanc 2013 Burgundy
We are very lucky to have this wine to present to you given that 2013 was a very low producing vintage. When Burgundy production is low the prices go up. Thankfully the importer protected both our supply of this fabulous White Burgundy as well as our price. The importer is completely sold out of it so this is your one & only time to experience. We have a paltry 3 extra cases so if you wish to purchase more we suggest you do so soon. It’s named after Jean Jacques Vincent who has managed the Chateau Fuisse for the past 40 years. They source this wine from near Mâcon & Pouilly Fuisse which gives it a very mineral driven profile. The balance of ripeness, richness & acid gives it a nervy yet lush texture. With the prices of Burgundies steadily climbing up we jumped at the chance to present such a top quality producer to our Winos Club.
Pairings:
Garlic basted crab; grilled squash with lemon; citrus marinated pork.
Altano Tinto
Duoro 2012
Much like 2013 in Burgundy 2012 in Portugal was extremely low yielding. Drought conditions had a significant impact on production. The Port grapes Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz & Tinta Barroca were used in this blend. It’s a fresh, fruity, spicy & supple bodied red with plum, hints of fig jam & smoke. This wine is tailor made for our grill heavy summer meals. The roasty notes play off the char on anything off the grill. It even benefits from a slight chill on it so don’t be afraid to stick it in the fridge for a bit.
PAIRINGS:
smoked pork ribs with chili, coriander, five spice & honey; gilled lamb kebobs.
