Domaine de couron
viognier 2014 Cotes Du rhone
Saint Marcel d’Ardeche lies 45 miles northwest of Avignon in France's Rhône-Alpes region. The Dorthe family have found artifacts ranging from ancient coins to primitive olive oil presses that date as far back as 30 AD when the area was occupied by the Roman Empire. We're very excited to bring you this extremely limited release Viognier from Domaine de Couron. This wine is exclusive to Joe's with only a few extra cases available for return sales. This elegant wine offers the bright, floral qualities Viognier is known for but also brings beautiful minerality and acidity keeping it from ever being oily. Lime peel, orange blossom, white flowers, macadamia nut, minerality and hints of bees wax make up the light, fresh nose. The palate is fleshy yet bright and crisp offering white pepper, papaya and wet stone.
Pairings:
Seafood with a good bit of fat like salmon or lobster, or any fish with a good creamy sauce.

Domaine de Couron "Cuvee Marie Dubois" Syrah 2012 Cotes Du Rhone
The site chosen for the ‘Cuvee Marie Dubois’ was planted in 1946 with syrah. Sparse rocky limestone soils and gnarled old vines characterize an environment that yields a wine of tremendous depth and complexity. This Syrah brings qualities of Northern Rhone's finest regions offering a smokey, meaty and herbaceous quality that is often associated with Hermitage and Cote Rotie which are easily three times the price. Only 166 cases of this beautiful Syrah were imported into the US. Toasted pecans, smoked wild game, pomegranate, black currant and sage dominate the dense palate. The palate is dark and rich with dried herbs, bacon fat and black olive followed by pecan bitters, roasted nuts on the finish.
PAIRINGS:
Cassoulet with duck or pork, Moroccan lamb barbecue, beef short ribs in red wine and herbs.
